Testimonials from Program Graduates

  • "I came to Lindsay with a book idea but a lot of questions about how to actually bring it into the world. She's a book oracle: She saw my vision for the book immediately and helped me decide the right publishing methods for the vision. Ultimately, I decided to self publish and Lindsay was there with me the whole way: Giving feedback on the outline, holding me accountable to actually getting words on the page, and walking me through how to find a team to make the book as high quality as possible. During my launch, her support was invaluable, too. She knew what I might experience and was able to keep me steady through the emotional ups and downs. My book is in the world because of Lindsay's support, no doubt about it. She brings an incredible combination of strategy, creativity, precision and intuition to the process. I can't recommend her more highly!"

    - Jenni Gritters, The Sustainable Solopreneur

  • “Coming out of Lindsay’s program, I had a book proposal, a query letter, and a new clarity in the direction my book was taking. These milestones were massively accelerated by this program. Shortly after finishing Lindsay's program, I signed with an agent and got my first book deal with Hachette! As a brand new author and someone with a corporate background, I appreciated Lindsay’s clear feedback which both met me where I was at while also holding me to a new standard in my writing. I’d recommend this program to anyone who wants to get into action and accelerate their book project, whatever stage it is in.”

Brooke Taylor, Healing the Success Wound (Hachette, 2026)

  • "Lindsay’s program for authors was truly transformative for me. I joined with what felt like a very distant dream of finding an agent and building a real path toward publication. Lindsay made that dream feel concrete. Her guidance, feedback, and industry insight were so clear and actionable that I ended up signing an incredible agent, and my book is now moving confidently toward submission. It has been surreal watching this dream come to life, and I could not be more thankful for her guidance. Before working with Lindsay, I had a real mental block about my ability to land an agent. I knew how competitive and challenging the process could be, and I struggled to imagine myself breaking through. Lindsay changed that for me. She broke everything down into manageable, accurate steps and taught me how to present my book in a way that reflects both its potential and my voice as an author. One of the first things my agent said was, “Who taught you how to write a proposal like this? It is so strong.” My answer: Lindsay taught me!! What stands out most about Lindsay is the mix of warmth, honesty, and deep industry knowledge she brings to every session. She understands the publishing world at a level most people never see, and she shares that knowledge in a way that is encouraging, empowering, and easy to act on. I cannot recommend her program more."

WHO IT’S FOR

You’ve been feeling that whisper in your spirit telling you that it’s time to write and publish your book.

You probably have a busy day job and are a little intimidated about committing to such a big project. But you’re also very intuitive and just KNOW that you’re being called to this right now.

You don’t want it to feel like checking an item off a to-do list or rushing some sloppy AI-generated book out the door.

You desire something deeper.

You want this book to be a portal into your growth. You want it to be part of your legacy, both personally and professionally, and something that you are so proud to share with the world.

What you don't need is another on-demand course or generic coaching program that will only make you more stressed and confused. And you certainly don't need to quit your job or pay $100k+ for an MFA (<30% of MFA grads actually become published authors).

What you DO need is deep support, accountability, and community, led by someone who truly gets it and has been in your shoes.

ABOUT LINDSAY

In the past several years, Lindsay MacMillan has published four books (three from Big-5 publishers, and one self-published). Her next novel is coming out from HarperCollins in 2026.

An expert in both the traditional publishing and self-publishing worlds, Lindsay’s coaching demystifies the whole process and empowers you to bring your book to life via the path that's most aligned with your vision.

From her own successes (and failures!), Lindsay knows what it actually takes to write and launch books in today's market, and she’ll guide you the whole way.

Her clients have gone on to land top agents and book deals at Big 5 publishers, as well as successfully self-publish.

Whether you have a completed manuscript, a messy outline, or the very first spark of an idea, The Author Portal meets you exactly where you are and moves you forward with clarity, confidence, and kind-hearted community.

WHY IT’S DIFFERENT

Lindsay built this program as the exact resource she wished she’d had.

While trying to break in as an author (and collecting lots of rejections along the way), Lindsay invested in so many writing courses and workshops, attended conferences and retreats, networked in NYC, and did everything she could to break in. She finally did, but it took her close to a decade and felt like a very lonely, opaque, frustrating process.

The Author Portal is here to accelerate that success for the writers Lindsay works with, and to bring together the best of everything Lindsay has learned from inside the industry.

Most programs teach writing OR publishing. The Author Portal gives you both...plus community, accountability, execution, and holistic support through every step.

This cohort experience is all about craft and courage. Structure and soul expansion. Industry insights and intuitive whispers. Poetic artistry and practical action. Business lessons and breathwork meditations.

Because writing a book isn't art or business. It's art AND business.

And it doesn't have to feel hard, frustrating, or impossible. It can feel fun, flowy, and totally within reach.

THINK OF THIS AS…

  • A modern MFA alternative at a fraction of the cost

  • A personalized book incubator with expert guidance

  • A sacred creative circle and growth portal (the best part of all)

At the start of the six months, you set your personal goal (examples: write your first 100 pages, finish manuscript, sign with agent, launch book, etc.) and Lindsay walks alongside you with editorial support, structure, and guidance to help you stay on track and move through any obstacles.

The cohort model also means that you're in community with other creatives who are on the journey with you and will become supporters and friends long beyond the six months.

About me…

  • 4x author with Penguin Random House and HarperCollins

  • 4x TEDx speaker and have given keynotes at Nasdaq, Goldman Sachs, Notre Dame, University of Michigan, and more

  • Featured in People Magazine, Writer’s Digest, CNBC, and more. Publisher’s Weekly and Barnes & Noble Top 50 bestseller

  • Graduated magna cum laude from Dartmouth, where I studied Creative Writing and economics

  • I was formerly a VP at Goldman Sachs and bring business savvy into the writing/publishing process…something that so many writing workshops fail to equip authors with, as I found out the hard way

  • Before signing my first book deal, I wrote 5 books that never got published — and racked up 200+ rejection letters! — so I know a thing or two about what it takes to actually break in

  • I landed my first agent from a query letter (a cold email) and my current agent at Janklow & Nesbit from networking and validating my success with my first two book launches

  • My fourth novel is coming out in 2026 from HarperCollins

  • I also self-published my debut poetry book in 2025 for full creative freedom (which was the #1 best-seller in all of poetry on Amazon and ranked in the top 1% of all self-published books in its first week of sales)

  • Since I know both the traditional publishing and self-publishing world inside and out, I delight in guiding my clients to find the most aligned fit for them

  • I’m represented by a top TV/film agency in Hollywood, and my novel SUMMER ON LILAC ISLAND is in the process of being adapted into a TV show

  • Over the past few years, I’ve had the best time coaching aspiring authors and giving them the type of support I wish I’d had during those years when I was struggling to break in

  • I’ve been a digital nomad for the past three years and am now in Texas for a new chapter!

The backstory…

Before I landed my first book deal and built my career as an author and speaker, I sometimes wondered if I should just give up.

The rejection letters piled up. Literary agents and publishers either ghosted me or politely passed on my work, leaving me feeling invisible and stuck.

Why am I putting myself through this? I questioned. Will it ever happen?

Plan B was always there. I was climbing the Wall Street ladder as a Vice President at Goldman Sachs, with the promise of a well-paying, stable career.

But deep down, I knew I wasn’t born to be comfortable. I was born to be alive.

Alive, feeling the full range of human emotions. Alive, sharing the creative energy frothing inside me. Alive, writing stories that could touch people, inspire them, and remind them of their own untapped potential.

The problem was that the gap between where I was and where I wanted to be felt impossibly large.

There were breakdowns, tears, and endless “What if it never happens?” phone calls to my mom.

But no matter how hard it got, I couldn’t quit. Writing wasn’t just something I wanted to do—it was something I had to do.

After years of persistence (and five beloved manuscripts that never saw the light of day), I finally landed my first book deal.

That moment was a catalyst, giving me the platform to build my dream career as an author, speaker, and creative entrepreneur. And now, I help others bring their books to life too.

And the best part is we’re no longer dependent on gatekeepers in the publishing world to decide if our stories are worth publishing.

We can take the power back into our own hands, leveraging the new generation of professional, high-quality self-publishing. This approach gives us full creative control and the ability to bring our books to life on our own terms.

I guide clients through that process because you don’t need permission to publish your book.

You just need the right strategy, guidance, and mindset. Writing and publishing your book isn’t just about the final product. It’s a transformative journey that will change your life and the lives of your readers.

Whether you’re a writer dreaming of publishing your first book or an entrepreneur eager to share your expertise with the world, I know how overwhelming it can feel.

But I also know it’s possible. Progress isn’t linear or overnight, but with the right support and a refusal to abandon your wildest dreams, you will get there.

I’m here to help you take that first step—and every step after—so you can create something beautiful and step proudly into your author era.
